Maryland-Eastern Shore at Canisius

BUFFALO, N.Y. (Interstat) — Coming off wildly different results in their last outings, Maryland-Eastern Shore and Canisius will meet in a non-conference men’s basketball game Friday at the Koessler Athletic Center.

The Hawks (2-4) arrive with momentum after a thrilling 83-82 double-overtime road victory against Longwood on Tuesday. Justin Monden led the way with 19 points, while Jaden Cooper scored 17 and Zion Obanla added 15. Prior to that win, Maryland-Eastern Shore struggled offensively, scoring 50 points or fewer in three of its previous four games, including lopsided losses to Nebraska and Creighton.

The Golden Griffins (2-3), conversely, are looking to rebound from a deflating 93-50 road loss to High Point on Monday. In that game, Christopher Kumu paced the team with nine points. Canisius has found wins hard to come by against Division I competition this season, with its other victory a narrow 58-55 home win over Mercyhurst.

Friday’s contest presents an opportunity for both teams to build a winning streak or steady themselves before continuing their respective schedules. The game tips off at 7 p.m. EST.
