Morgan State at Old Dominion
NORFOLK, Va. (Interstat) — Two teams looking to halt losing streaks will meet Friday when Old Dominion hosts Morgan State in a non-conference men’s basketball game at the Constant Convocation Center.
The Monarchs (2-3) have dropped two straight, including a 99-69 road loss to Xavier on Tuesday. LJ Thomas led Old Dominion with 13 points and six assists in that defeat, while Zacch Wiggins and Drew McKenna added nine and 12 points, respectively. The Monarchs’ two wins this season have come at home against Norfolk State and Randolph.
Morgan State (1-4) arrives in Norfolk after a 79-73 home loss to North Carolina A&T on Tuesday. Elijah Davis scored 21 points for the Bears in the contest, and Rob Lawson and Alfred Worrell added 12 and 13 points. The Bears’ lone victory was a 101-77 home win over Central Penn on Nov. 6.
Both teams have struggled defensively in the early season. Morgan State has allowed 86 or more points in three of its four losses, while Old Dominion has surrendered 87 or more in all three of its defeats.
Friday’s game is the first of a two-game homestand for Old Dominion, which travels to Drexel on Sunday. Morgan State’s next game is at home against Drexel on Nov. 25.
