Charleston Southern at East Carolina

GREENVILLE, N.C. (Interstat) — Two teams coming off high-scoring, but opposite, results will meet Friday when the East Carolina Pirates host the Charleston Southern Buccaneers in a nonconference men’s basketball game.

The Buccaneers (3-3) are riding the momentum of a 103-91 home victory over IU Indy on Tuesday. Charleston Southern’s offense was fueled by a trio of guards: A’lahn Sumler scored 29 points, Armari Carraway added 24 and Brycen Blaine chipped in 19. The performance showcased the team’s potent scoring ability, though consistency has been an issue with losses to Lindenwood and Alabama A&M in the past week.

East Carolina (2-2) looks to rebound from a deflating 85-60 road loss to UNC Wilmington on the same night. Jordan Riley led the Pirates with 19 points in the defeat. The Pirates have struggled away from home, with their only wins this season coming at Williams Arena, a narrow 71-70 victory over Elizabeth City State, and a season-opening win against Georgia Southern.

Friday’s matchup at Williams Arena pits the Buccaneers’ explosive offense against a Pirates squad seeking to re-establish its defensive identity on its home court. The game serves as a final tune-up for both teams before multi-team events next week.
