Eastern Illinois at Notre Dame

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (Interstat) — The Notre Dame Fighting Irish look to continue their strong start to the season when they host the Eastern Illinois Panthers in a non-conference men’s basketball game Tuesday at the Joyce Athletic Center.

Notre Dame (2-0) has opened the season with a pair of dominant home victories, most recently a 102-70 rout of Detroit on Friday. Braeden Shrewsberry led the way with 19 points, while Carson Towt added 11 points and five assists. The Irish previously defeated Long Island 89-67 in their season opener.

Eastern Illinois (1-1) is coming off its first win, a 65-57 home victory over Nicholls State on Friday. Zion Fruster scored a game-high 25 points in the win. The Panthers opened their season with a narrow 66-63 road loss at Valparaiso.

The game represents a significant step up in competition for the Panthers, who face a challenging schedule that includes a trip to Kentucky on Friday. Notre Dame, meanwhile, prepares for a marquee road test of its own Sunday at Ohio State.

Tipoff is set for Tuesday night.
