California Baptist at UC Irvine

IRVINE, Calif. (Interstat) — Two undefeated teams will meet Friday night when the California Baptist Lancers visit the UC Irvine Anteaters in a non-conference men’s basketball game at the Bren Events Center.

Both teams enter the Nov. 7 contest with 1-0 records after decisive season-opening victories on Monday.

California Baptist, out of the Western Athletic Conference, defeated South Carolina Upstate 87-75. The Lancers were led by Dominique Daniels Jr., who scored 23 points. Thomas Ndong added 14 points and five rebounds, while Jayden Jackson nearly recorded a triple-double with 10 points, eight rebounds and five assists.

UC Irvine, the Big West Conference representative, opened its season with a dominant 125-49 win over Bethesda. The Anteaters’ offense was firing, with Jurian Dixon scoring 21 points and Tama Isaac contributing a double-double with 18 points and 10 assists. Kyle Evans added 22 points off the bench in just 13 minutes of play.

The game marks the start of a challenging road stretch for the Lancers, who will play their next five games away from home, including upcoming dates at Oregon State and Colorado. UC Irvine will look to defend its home court before a three-game road trip later in the month.
