Kansas at North Carolina

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (Interstat) — Two of college basketball’s bluebloods, Kansas and North Carolina, will clash in a high-profile nonconference showdown Friday night at the Dean Smith Center.

Both the Jayhawks (1-0) and Tar Heels (1-0) are coming off dominant 94-point performances in their season-opening victories this past Monday. Kansas routed Green Bay 94-51, while North Carolina handled Central Arkansas 94-54.

The Jayhawks’ offense was fueled by a powerful inside-out combination. Center Flory Bidunga scored 23 points and guard Darryn Peterson added 21 in the win. They will face a North Carolina squad that saw balanced production from forward Caleb Wilson (22 points) and guard Kyan Evans (15 points, 5 assists).

This early-season test is a marquee addition to both teams’ schedules. For Kansas, it begins a brutal stretch that includes upcoming games against Duke and Connecticut. The Tar Heels, meanwhile, will face a similar gauntlet with future games against Kentucky and Michigan State.

The matchup features two of the nation’s most talented rosters, setting the stage for a potential early-season classic between perennial national title contenders. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. Eastern.
