DALLAS (Interstat) — The Black Hills State men’s basketball team used a balanced offensive attack and timely defensive stands to secure a 76-62 victory over Dallas Baptist in a non-conference matchup Tuesday night.

The Yellow Jackets, improving to 29-4 overall, never trailed after opening the game with a 5-0 run. They took a 34-32 lead into halftime and methodically extended their advantage in the second half, outscoring the Patriots 42-30 after the break. Dallas Baptist fell to 28-6 with the loss.

Cam Lowe led all scorers for Black Hills State with 15 points, adding four assists in 34 minutes. He was one of five Yellow Jackets to reach double figures, highlighting the team’s distributed scoring effort. Tristan Hurdle and Jaeton Hackley each contributed 11 points, while Jack Haggett and Myles Johnson added 10 and nine points, respectively. Jackson Seale anchored the interior defense with three blocked shots.

Dallas Baptist was paced by Bishop Jones with 12 points. Xavion Brown added 14 points and three assists, and Jaden Shelvin finished with nine points.

The most critical sequence of the game occurred early in the second half, when Black Hills State stifled multiple Dallas Baptist attempts to seize momentum. After the Patriots closed to within two points at halftime, the Yellow Jackets opened the second period with tightened defense, forcing several difficult shots and turnovers. A key block by Seale on a Jones layup attempt midway through the half preserved a growing lead and typified the defensive effort that kept Dallas Baptist from mounting a sustained rally.

Black Hills State steadily built its lead throughout the final 20 minutes, maintaining a double-digit cushion for much of the period. The Yellow Jackets capitalized on second-chance opportunities and limited the Patriots’ transition game, controlling the tempo and securing the road win.

An announced crowd of 1,230 attended the game at Dallas Baptist’s home arena. Both teams are now expected to await their postseason fates following the conclusion of the regular season.
