(Interstat) — In a season-opening men’s NCAA Division II basketball classic that required two overtimes to decide, Newberry outlasted Emmanuel 100-98 on Friday afternoon at Eleazer Arena. The Wolves, who trailed by as many as 14 points in the first half, mounted a furious second-half comeback to force the extra periods before finally securing the victory in front of 67 fans. Drake Downs was the catalyst for Newberry, dominating the paint with a game-high 34 points and 15 rebounds.
