Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk at Amur Khabarovsk

KHABAROVSK (Interstat) — Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk will visit Amur Khabarovsk on Tuesday in a Kontinental Hockey League game at Platinum Arena.

Neftekhimik enters with a 7-3 record and has been one of the league’s hotter teams, while Amur sits at 3-5. The visitors have won three of their past four and are coming off a 5-3 victory at Admiral Vladivostok. Andrei Al. Belozyorov powered that win with two goals and one assist on three shots. Alexander Petunin added a goal and an assist, and Damir Zhafyarov also had a goal and an assist.

Belozyorov has been productive throughout the early season. He has recorded points in several recent games, including a two-goal, one-assist effort against Admiral Vladivostok, a one-goal, two-assist performance against Lada Togliatti, and a two-assist game against Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg. His ability to create scoring chances will be a key concern for Amur.

Amur will counter with goaltender Maxim Dorozhko, who has been busy and effective. Dorozhko made 28 saves on 29 shots in a 3-1 win over Lokomotiv Yaroslavl. He also stopped all 32 shots he faced in a 4-0 win over Dynamo Moscow and made 36 saves on 37 shots in a 3-1 victory at Barys Astana. Those performances have helped Amur remain competitive despite its record. Vasily Machulin had two assists and Kirill Urakov scored in the win over Lokomotiv.

The matchup features contrasting form. Neftekhimik has scored at a high rate in several wins, including a 7-3 victory over Lada Togliatti and a 6-3 win at Barys Astana. Amur has relied more on defense and goaltending, posting a 4-0 shutout against Dynamo Moscow and limiting CSKA Moscow to two goals in a 2-0 loss. Amur also has a 3-1 road win at Barys Astana. Neftekhimik has scored five or more goals in four games this season, while Amur has been held to one goal or fewer in three games.

Neftekhimik’s offense will test Amur’s structure. The visitors have shown balance, with Belozyorov, Petunin and Zhafyarov contributing in the most recent win. Amur’s best path likely runs through Dorozhko, who has faced at least 23 shots in each of his past seven appearances. If he can control rebounds and weather early pressure, the home team could keep the game close.

Amur’s upcoming schedule includes a trip to Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg and Traktor Chelyabinsk, while Neftekhimik returns home for games against Barys Astana and Sibir Novosibirsk. But the focus is on Tuesday’s meeting at Platinum Arena, where Amur will try to hand Neftekhimik a rare road loss.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a final score of Neftekhimik 3, Amur 2.
