CHEREPOVETS (Interstat) — Severstal will look to carry momentum from a road win into a Kontinental Hockey League matchup Thursday, Sept. 24, 2026, against Avtomobilist at Ice Palace in Cherepovets, Russia.

Both teams are 2-5 this season. Severstal snapped a four-game losing streak with a 4-1 victory at Amur Khabarovsk on Sept. 21. Alexander Samoilov stopped 24 of 25 shots in that win. Timofei Davydov contributed two assists and three shots, while Ilya Ivantsov scored. Severstal’s previous results include a 2-0 home loss to Dynamo Moscow on Sept. 14, an 8-0 road loss to Spartak Moscow on Sept. 12, a 2-1 overtime loss at Lokomotiv Yaroslavl on Sept. 10, a 1-0 home win over Lada Togliatti on Sept. 7 and a 3-2 home loss to Salavat Yulaev Ufa on Sept. 5.

Samoilov has been busy for Severstal. He made 23 saves in a 2-0 loss at Admiral Vladivostok on Sept. 19 and 21 saves in the loss to Dynamo Moscow. He also turned aside all 19 shots he faced in the win over Lada Togliatti and made 31 saves in the season-opening loss to Salavat Yulaev Ufa. Samoilov is the player to watch for Severstal.

Avtomobilist enters on a two-game losing streak. The club fell 3-2 at Shanghai Dragons on Sept. 22 and 5-3 at Dinamo Minsk on Sept. 20. In the Shanghai loss, Alexander Kadeikin scored and recorded four shots on goal. Daniel Sprong also scored and had four shots, while Alexander Sharov added an assist and two shots. Kadeikin, a forward, is Avtomobilist’s player to watch. He scored and had two shots in a 5-2 win at Sibir Novosibirsk on Sept. 13 and had an assist, two shots, two penalty minutes and one hit at Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk on Sept. 11. He also recorded four shots in a 2-1 home win over Dynamo Moscow on Sept. 5.

Avtomobilist has additional recent results: a 3-2 overtime loss at Avangard Omsk on Sept. 15, a 5-2 win at Sibir Novosibirsk on Sept. 13, a 3-1 loss at Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk on Sept. 11, a 4-3 overtime home loss to Traktor Chelyabinsk on Sept. 7 and a 2-1 home win over Dynamo Moscow on Sept. 5. The club will visit Spartak Moscow on Saturday. Severstal will host HC Sochi on Saturday.
