MOSCOW (Interstat) — Nikita Okhotyuk scored with 1:27 remaining in regulation to give CSKA Moscow a 1-0 victory over Barys Astana in a Kontinental Hockey League game Thursday at CSKA Ice Palace.

Goaltender Dmitry Gamzin stopped all 28 shots he faced for the shutout for CSKA, which improved to 23-25. Barys, which defeated CSKA 3-1 on Jan. 17, fell to 16-33 despite 22 saves from Adam Scheel.

The game’s only goal came on a third-period play by Okhotyuk, assisted by Denis Zernov and Mac Hollowell, breaking a scoreless deadlock. CSKA was projected as a heavy favorite by statistical models. Barys has lost three of its last four games.
