Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod at Dynamo Moscow

MOSCOW (Interstat) — A crucial Kontinental Hockey League matchup is set for Monday as Dynamo Moscow hosts Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod at VTB Ice Palace.

The two clubs enter the contest with nearly identical records. The visiting Torpedo (18-12-0) holds a slight edge over Dynamo (17-12-0) in the standings. Both teams are looking to build on recent victories after suffering losses in their previous outings.

Dynamo earned a 1-0 shutout win over Lokomotiv Yaroslavl on Wednesday, with goaltender Maxim Motorygin stopping all 23 shots he faced and forward Maxime Comtois scoring the lone goal. The team has alternated wins and losses over its last five games.

Torpedo is coming off a 2-1 loss to Dinamo Minsk on Friday. Despite the defeat, goaltender Denis Kostin was strong in net with 29 saves on 31 shots, and forward Sergei Goncharuk provided the team’s only goal. Torpedo had won four of its previous five games before the loss.

The last head-to-head meeting heavily favored Dynamo, which defeated Torpedo 4-1 on Oct. 5.

Following this game, Torpedo continues a road trip at CSKA Moscow on Wednesday. Dynamo will also hit the road, traveling to face Severstal Cherepovets on Wednesday.
