Spartak Moscow at Admiral Vladivostok

VLADIVOSTOK, Russia (Interstat) — Spartak Moscow edged Admiral Vladivostok in a shootout Friday night in a Kontinental Hockey League matchup at Fetisov Arena, securing a 4-3 victory after a dramatic third-period comeback by the home team forced extra time.

The game, played on Oct. 17, 2025, saw Spartak build a commanding early lead only to have Admiral rally with three goals in the final period to tie the score and send the contest to a shootout, where Spartak ultimately prevailed.

Spartak established control in the first period. Adam Ruzicka opened the scoring for the visitors, netting his fourth goal of the season at the 9:40 mark with an assist from Andrei A. Mironov. Admiral defenseman Pavel Koledov responded late in the period, cutting the deficit with his second goal at 19:01, assisted by Alexander Daryin and Kyle Olson.

The game entered a prolonged stalemate through the second period and deep into the third, with Spartak maintaining its one-goal advantage. The deadlock was finally broken when Admiral’s Pavel Shen scored his third of the season at 44:43, assisted by Daniil Gutik and Semyon Ruchkin, to tie the game.

The momentum shifted violently over the next several minutes. Spartak’s Joseph Keane responded just 44 seconds later at 45:27, restoring his team’s lead with his third goal, assisted by Nathan Todd and Ruzicka. Daniel Usmanov then appeared to give Spartak a decisive cushion, scoring his first goal of the season at 47:00 to make it 4-2, with helpers from Dmitry Vishnevsky and Alexander Vl. Belyayev.

Admiral refused to capitulate. Daniil Gutik brought the home crowd back to life with his fifth goal at 51:39, making it a one-goal game once more with an assist from Stepan Starkov. Admiral pressed for the equalizer and found it with just five minutes remaining in regulation when Nathan Todd scored for Spartak, tying the game and forcing overtime.

After a scoreless extra frame, the game proceeded to a shootout where Spartak secured the second point.

The win improves Spartak’s record across all competitions to eight wins and eight losses. The loss moves Admiral to six wins and seven losses.

The result defied the pre-game projections from Interstat, whose game simulator had projected a 3-2 victory for Admiral. The same service’s ELO system, however, had given Spartak a 64.40 percent probability to win.

Spartak’s next game is at home against Red Star Kunlun on Tuesday, Oct. 21. Admiral continues its homestand, hosting Severstal Cherepovets on the same date.
