Amur Khabarovsk at Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk

NIZHNEKAMSK, Russia (Interstat) — Amur Khabarovsk (4-8-0) and Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk (7-6-0) will complete a rare three-game series Thursday at SCC Arena, just two days after Amur skated to a 2-1 victory on the same ice.

The Kontinental Hockey League matchup offers a quick chance for redemption for the home side and an opportunity for the visiting Amur to build rare momentum.

Amur’s win Tuesday snapped a three-game losing streak and was just its second victory in its last nine contests. Goaltender Damir Shaimardanov was the cornerstone of the victory, stopping 33 of 34 shots. Forwards Yaroslav Likhachyov and Matvei Zaseda each scored a goal in the win.

Despite their sub-.500 record, Neftekhimik has been stronger at home, posting a 5-3-0 record. They will look to rebound after consecutive losses to Lada and Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg preceded the narrow defeat to Amur. Goaltender Filipp Dolganov made 33 saves in the losing effort Tuesday.

The game is the final contest for both teams before a several-day break in the schedule. Amur returns home to host Spartak Moscow on Oct. 15, while Neftekhimik remains at home to face Sibir Novosibirsk on Oct. 12.
