Salavat Yulaev Ufa at Sibir Novosibirsk

NOVOSIBIRSK, Russia (Interstat) — A struggling Salavat Yulaev Ufa will look to halt a four-game losing skid when it visits Sibir Novosibirsk in a Kontinental Hockey League matchup on Wednesday.

The game at Ice Sports Palace Sibir pits a slumping Salavat Yulaev (1-5-0) against a Sibir (3-3-0) team seeking consistency after splitting its last four contests.

Salavat Yulaev is coming off a 3-1 road loss to Ak Bars Kazan on Friday. Goaltender Alexander Samonov made 27 saves on 30 shots in the defeat, while forward Vladislav Yefremov scored the team’s lone goal. The Ufa-based club has been outscored 16-7 during its current losing streak, which followed an overtime win against Metallurg Magnitogorsk to open the season.

Sibir returns home after a 4-2 loss to Severstal Cherepovets on Monday. Forward Scott Wilson provided the offensive spark with two goals in the losing effort. The Novosibirsk club has shown resilience on the road recently, earning a 1-0 shutout victory at Amur Khabarovsk last Friday and a 4-3 shootout win there last Wednesday.

Salavat Yulaev will aim to leverage its overtime victory from earlier in the month as a blueprint for success, while Sibir will look to capitalize on its home ice advantage and improve to a winning record.

The teams are scheduled to meet again in Ufa on Oct. 1.
