Kiwoom at Lotte

BUSAN (Interstat) — The Kiwoom Heroes will visit the Lotte Giants on Wednesday at Busan Sajik Baseball Stadium in a Korea Baseball Organization matchup.

Kiwoom enters at 49-80-4, while Lotte is 58-69-2. Lotte has won each of the last 10 meetings between the clubs, including a 4-2 win in the most recent game. The teams are meeting for the 11th time this season. Lotte has won all 10 previous matchups. Kiwoom will look to reverse that trend behind a lineup that has shown occasional power and a pitching staff that has struggled to hold leads. The Heroes have won two of their last three games, beating NC and KT Wiz before falling to Lotte. The Giants also have won two of their last three, defeating LG and Hanwha before losing to Hanwha. Both clubs are in the middle of their late-season schedules.

Jhun Jun-pyo is the player to watch for Kiwoom. He last pitched against Lotte and allowed three earned runs over 6 2/3 innings, giving up six hits with one walk and two strikeouts. In his previous start, against Doosan, he worked five innings and allowed two earned runs on seven hits with two walks and one strikeout. Kiwoom’s most productive player in the latest loss to Lotte was Matthew Davidson, who went 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs. Park Jin-hyung also contributed a scoreless relief appearance.

Park Se-woong is the player to watch for Lotte. He earned the win in the Giants’ most recent game against Kiwoom, throwing 5 2/3 innings and allowing two earned runs on five hits with two walks and seven strikeouts. In his prior outing, at Hanwha, he permitted four earned runs over 5 1/3 innings with nine hits, one walk and four strikeouts. Against Samsung, he allowed two earned runs in six innings with eight hits, four walks and two strikeouts. Han Dong-hui went 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs in Lotte’s latest win over Kiwoom, while Park Jeong-min pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings of relief. Park Se-woong won the most recent pitching matchup against Jhun Jun-pyo.

The forecast calls for a game-time temperature of 71 degrees at Busan Sajik Baseball Stadium. After this matchup, Kiwoom is scheduled to visit Hanwha and then host KT Wiz and Hanwha. Lotte is slated to visit KT Wiz and then host Doosan and Kia.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a final score of Kiwoom Heroes 6, Lotte Giants 7. Interstat’s ELO system gives Lotte a 65.6 percent probability to win.
