Shinsegae at KT
SUWON, South Korea (Interstat) – The first-place KT Wiz host the last-place Shinsegae Landers on Thursday evening at Suwon Baseball Stadium in the third game of a four-game series.
KT (42-29) leads the season series 3-2, but the Landers (30-41-2) won the series opener 5-4 on Wednesday. Rain is not in the forecast; the Weather Service calls for 78-degree evening weather with clouds.
Shinsegae will look to string together consecutive wins for the first time since June 20-21. The Landers have won four of their past seven games, including a 7-3 win at NC Dinos on Sunday.
Right-hander Kim Min-jun is expected to start for Shinsegae. Kim threw 5.0 innings in Wednesday’s win over KT, allowing one earned run on five hits with four strikeouts. In his two prior starts, he lasted 4.1 innings against Lotte and 3.2 innings against LG, taking losses in both.
The Wiz counter with right-hander Ju Kwon out of the bullpen. Ju worked 2.0 scoreless innings of relief Wednesday, scattering two hits and striking out one. He has allowed one earned run over his past seven appearances spanning 8.0 innings, with 10 strikeouts and zero walks in that stretch.
KT is coming off an 11-5 loss to Kia on Sunday, snapping a two-game winning streak, but the Wiz remain in first place with a 4-3 mark over their past seven games. Their offense has been productive, scoring at least five runs in four of those seven contests.
Shinsegae’s offense was led Wednesday by Kim and relievers Jo Byeong-hyeon and Lee Geun-wook, who combined for 3.0 scoreless innings. The Landers sit last in the KBO standings but have won three of their past five road games.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, the projected final score is KT 5-2. Interstat’s ELO model gives the Wiz a 61.00 percent probability to win.
The series concludes Friday when both teams break for travel. Shinsegae opens a three-game home series against Hanwha on Friday, while KT visits Samsung for a weekend series in Daegu.
