Shinsegae at KT

SUWON, South Korea (Interstat) — The KT Wiz host the Shinsegae Landers on Tuesday evening at Suwon Baseball Stadium, with first pitch scheduled under a forecast of rain and 75-degree temperatures.

KT (41-28) enters the matchup firmly in contention, holding a 13-game advantage over the last-place Landers (29-40-2). The Wiz are coming off a 11-5 loss Sunday to the Kia Tigers, but their offense has been potent throughout June. Left-hander Logan Allen is a key figure for KT; in his most recent start Sunday against Kia, he allowed two earned runs on six hits over five innings with six strikeouts.

Shinsegae, meanwhile, arrives after a 7-3 win Sunday at NC Dinos, snapping a four-game winless streak. Outfielder Guillermo Heredia sparked that victory, going 1 for 4 with a home run and four RBIs. Heredia has been productive recently, with four home runs and seven RBIs over his past six games. The Landers will need that production against a KT team that has won five of its past seven.

The teams last met June 5-7 in Incheon, where Shinsegae took two of three, including a 7-0 shutout in the finale. However, KT dominated earlier meetings this season in Suwon, winning the first three games of a four-game series May 12-14 before dropping the finale 16-10.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 5-2 KT victory, and its ELO system gives the Wiz a 60.8 percent win probability.

The series continues with games Wednesday and Thursday.
