Hanwha at Doosan

SEOUL, South Korea (Interstat) — The Hanwha Eagles and Doosan Bears close out their three-game series Thursday night at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul, with the teams even after two tense meetings.

Hanwha enters at 48-50-4, while Doosan is 53-46-3. The Bears won Tuesday’s opener 6-3, and the Eagles answered Wednesday with a 4-3 victory in 10 innings. First pitch is scheduled for the evening under cloudy skies, with temperatures near 82 degrees.

Doosan holds a 5-4-1 edge in the season series. The Bears took two games in late June and three of four from June 2-4, but Hanwha has won the past two meetings at Jamsil, including Wednesday’s extra-inning thriller. Thursday’s game will decide the series and give one team a tiebreaker in the season matchup.

The oddsmakers and projections see a close game. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 4-3 Doosan win, and Interstat’s ELO system gives the Bears a 50.60 percent probability of victory. Doosan is listed as the pregame favorite, with Hanwha plus 1.5 on the run line. The over/under is 7.5.

Pitcher Owen White is a player to watch for Hanwha. White earned a win Wednesday against the Bears, allowing one earned run over seven innings while striking out seven. He gave up three earned runs in a loss at KT Wiz in his previous start, but he also threw seven innings of one-run ball against Kia on July 22.

Wes Benjamin is a key player for Doosan. Benjamin took the loss Wednesday despite allowing just one earned run over five innings with seven strikeouts. He was sharp in his two previous starts, allowing three earned runs in six innings against LG and pitching six scoreless innings at Shinsegae Landers.

Both teams have quick turnarounds after this game. Hanwha travels to Samsung on Friday, while Doosan visits Kia. But first, the Eagles and Bears have one more chance to settle a tightly contested series under the lights at Jamsil.
