KT Wiz at NC Dinos Preview

CHANGWON, South Korea (Interstat) — The first-place KT Wiz aim to build on a dominant shutout victory when they visit the NC Dinos on Wednesday evening at Masan Baseball Stadium.

The Wiz (54-36-2) enter the 7 p.m. contest riding high after a 10-0 drubbing of the Dinos on Tuesday. KT holds a comfortable lead atop the standings, while NC (42-48-1) languishes near the bottom of the Korea Baseball Organization.

Ko Young-pyo, who earned the win in Tuesday’s blowout, is expected to be a key figure for KT. The right-hander pitched seven innings of two-hit ball, striking out 10 while allowing no earned runs in that outing. Over his past two starts, Ko has yielded zero earned runs across 13 innings, with 16 strikeouts.

Kim Tae-hoon gives the Dinos a bullpen arm to watch. The reliever tossed a scoreless inning with two strikeouts in Tuesday’s loss, but he surrendered two earned runs over one inning against Shinsegae Landers on July 25.

KT has won seven of the past eight head-to-head meetings dating to April, including a three-game sweep in May and consecutive victories in April. NC’s lone win in that stretch came May 24 in Changwon.

The weather forecast calls for 90-degree temperatures and cloudy skies.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 7-2 final in favor of KT. The ELO system gives the Wiz a 51.9 percent probability to win.

The teams conclude their two-game set Thursday.
