Doosan at Shinsegae

Doosan Bears at Shinsegae Landers preview

INCHEON, South Korea (Interstat) — The Doosan Bears visit the Shinsegae Landers on Tuesday evening at Munhak Baseball Stadium, with first pitch set for 7 p.m. under cloudy skies and 81-degree heat.

Doosan (48-44-3) enters the game riding a 7-0 shutout victory over the Samsung Lions on Sunday, the Bears’ second win in their past three games. Right-hander Gwak Been is scheduled to start for Doosan, and he brings a dominant recent stretch into the matchup. In his past three outings, all wins, Gwak has allowed one earned run over 19 innings with 20 strikeouts. That includes a seven-inning, one-run performance against the Landers on July 8, when he struck out seven in a 7-3 victory.

Shinsegae (36-56-5) is coming off a 5-5 tie with the NC Dinos on Sunday, which followed back-to-back wins. The Landers have struggled to find consistency in a season well below .500. Right-hander Takeda Shota will start for Shinsegae. He has not won in his past three starts, posting a 4.15 ERA over 13 innings in that span, and took a loss against Doosan on July 8 when he allowed three earned runs in 5 ⅔ innings.

The teams have met nine times this season, with Doosan holding a 6-3 advantage. The Bears have won three of the past four head-to-head contests, including consecutive 7-0 and 7-3 wins on July 8-9. Shinsegae’s most recent win in the series came July 7, a 4-2 decision.

After Tuesday’s game, the teams continue their three-game series Wednesday and Thursday before Doosan returns home to face the LG Twins and Shinsegae travels to take on the Kiwoom Heroes.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 5-4 Doosan victory, and the ELO system gives the Bears a 52.4 percent probability to win.
