Shinsegae at Doosan
SEOUL, South Korea (Interstat) — The Doosan Bears host the Shinsegae Landers on Tuesday evening at Jamsil Stadium, with first pitch scheduled under a forecast of 81-degree rain. Doosan (42-40-2) enters the game in playoff contention, while Shinsegae (30-50-3) looks to snap a three-game losing streak.
The Bears have won two of the last three meetings this season, including a 3-1 victory on May 10 in Seoul. Doosan’s recent form has been strong, winning three of its last four, capped by an 8-1 road win over Kiwoom on Sunday. The Bears’ projected starting pitcher, Choi Min-seok, has been dominant, posting five consecutive wins with a 0.60 ERA over his last three starts, striking out 17 in 18 innings. In his most recent outing, he allowed one run on five hits with six strikeouts over six innings.
Shinsegae, meanwhile, is struggling after a 13-3 loss to Samsung on Sunday, its 10th defeat in 11 games. Relief pitcher Park Si-hoo has been a reliable arm during the slide, allowing only one earned run over his last 6 2/3 innings across four appearances, striking out six. He worked 1 1/3 scoreless innings against Samsung on Sunday. The Landers’ offense has managed four or fewer runs in seven of their last eight contests.
In the series opener on Tuesday, the Interstat game simulator projects a 5-0 Doosan victory, with the Bears holding a 60.10 percent win probability according to its ELO system.
The teams continue the three-game set Wednesday and Thursday at Jamsil. Shinsegae then hosts Kia for four games starting July 16. Doosan travels to NC for a four-game series beginning the same day.
