GWANGJU, South Korea (Interstat) — The Kia Tigers host the NC Dinos in a Korea Baseball Organization matchup Saturday evening at Gwangju-Kia Champions Field.
First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. under partly cloudy skies, with a game-time temperature near 75 degrees Fahrenheit.
Kia (44-36-3) enters with a six-game winning streak and holds the league’s third-best record. NC (37-41-1) has lost three of its past four.
The Tigers lead the season series 4-3. The Dinos won 11-3 on Friday in Gwangju, snapping Kia’s five-game winning streak in the head-to-head.
NC third baseman Kim Whee-jip is a key player to watch. In Friday’s win, he went 3-for-4 with two home runs and five RBIs. Over his past nine games, the right-handed hitter has four homers and nine RBIs but has gone hitless in four of those contests.
For Kia, right-handed pitcher Hwang Dong-ha is scheduled to start. He lasted only 4 1/3 innings in Friday’s loss, allowing four earned runs on four hits with two strikeouts. Over his past four starts, Hwang is 0-3 with a 7.11 ERA.
NC counters with left-hander Koo Chang-mo, who earned the win Friday by allowing three earned runs over six innings while striking out three.
The Interstat game simulator projects a 5-3 Kia victory, giving the Tigers a 56.90 percent win probability based on Elo ratings.
The teams conclude the two-game series Sunday in Gwangju. Following the series, NC travels to Hanwha for three games beginning Tuesday, while Kia travels to Lotte for a three-game set starting Tuesday.
