Doosan at LG
SEOUL, South Korea (Interstat) — The LG Twins will host the Doosan Bears on Saturday afternoon at Jamsil Stadium, with the forecast calling for rain and a game-time temperature of 79 degrees.
LG enters the contest at 43-26-1, perched atop the league standings, while Doosan sits at 34-34-2, hovering near .500. The Twins have won five of the seven head-to-head meetings this season, including a 3-2 victory Friday in the opener of this three-game set.
Right-hander Wes Benjamin will take the mound for the Bears, and his recent form has been erratic. Over his last five starts, Benjamin is 2-3 with a 4.77 ERA. He allowed three earned runs in six innings Friday in a loss to these same Twins. His two wins, however, came against Hanwha on June 2 and KT on May 27, both scoreless outings spanning a combined 13 1/3 innings.
LG counters with Song Chan-eui, who has been a menace at the plate. In Friday’s win, Song went 4 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs, raising his batting average significantly over a scorching stretch. Over his last 10 games, he has multiple hits in four contests, including a 4-for-5, five-RBI performance against Shinsegae on June 11.
Doosan is looking to snap a two-game skid after dropping the series opener and losing two of three at home to KT earlier in the week. The Bears’ offense has been inconsistent, but they managed eight runs against Kia on June 14. LG, meanwhile, took two of three at Kia before returning home to edge Doosan.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a 5-4 win for the Twins, and its ELO system gives LG a 65.5% probability of victory. The game is the second of four straight between the teams, with another matinee scheduled for Sunday. Doosan then travels to Hanwha for three games, while LG hosts Samsung for three.
