Doosan at Lotte

BUSAN, South Korea (Interstat) — The Doosan Bears visit the Lotte Giants on Thursday evening at Busan Sajik Baseball Stadium, with first pitch set under partly cloudy skies and 69-degree temperatures.

Doosan (30-30-2) enters the game tied for fifth place in the KBO standings, while Lotte (23-36-1) sits in ninth. The Bears have split the first two games of this three-game series, losing 3-1 on Wednesday after winning 6-5 on Tuesday. Lotte took the series opener to snap a two-game skid.

The projected pitching matchup features a rematch of Wednesday’s starters. Left-hander Zach Logue (0-1) is expected to start for Doosan on short rest after taking the loss in the series opener, allowing three earned runs on nine hits over six innings with two strikeouts. Logue has been inconsistent this season, alternating wins and losses over his last five starts. He surrendered six earned runs in a 10-9 win against Lotte on May 16, but also threw four shutout innings against Hanwha on June 4.

Right-hander Kim Jin-uk (1-0) is slated to start for Lotte after earning the win Wednesday. He allowed no earned runs on three hits over 5 2/3 innings with three strikeouts. Kim has been sharp recently, winning his last two starts and allowing three earned runs or fewer in four of his last five outings. He gave up four earned runs in a no-decision against Doosan on May 15.

The season series is tightly contested. Doosan holds a 4-3 advantage through seven meetings, but Lotte has won two of three at home. The teams have alternated results in the last six games, with Doosan winning three and Lotte three.

Both clubs are navigating key stretches. Doosan begins a three-game road series at Kia on Friday, while Lotte travels to LG for a three-game set.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 5-1 Doosan victory, and its ELO system gives the Bears a 52.7% probability to win.

For Doosan, shortstop Kim Taek-yeon pitched a scoreless inning Wednesday, and reliever Choi Jun-ho also threw a clean frame. Lotte closer Kim Won-jung tossed a scoreless ninth in Wednesday’s win, and setup man Kim Gang-hyun recorded two outs without allowing a hit.
