KBO: Doosan Bears at Lotte Giants
BUSAN, South Korea (Interstat) — The Doosan Bears visit the Lotte Giants on Tuesday evening at Busan Sajik Baseball Stadium, with first pitch scheduled under cloudy skies and a temperature of 65 degrees.
Doosan (29-29-2) enters the game having dropped a 4-1 decision Sunday to the Kiwoom Heroes. The Bears, who sit at .500, have won seven of their last 10 games. Lotte (22-35-1) is coming off a 9-8, 10-inning loss Sunday to the Hanwha Eagles and has lost seven of its last 10.
The Bears won two of three games in the most recent head-to-head series against the Giants from May 15-17, including an 8-4 victory in the finale. However, Lotte won the last meeting between the teams at Sajik Stadium, a 6-1 decision on April 23. Doosan took two of three in that earlier road series.
Doosan pitcher Kim Dong-ju is a player to watch. In Sunday’s loss, Kim tossed two scoreless innings of relief, allowing one hit. Over his last two appearances, he has thrown three innings without allowing an earned run while striking out one.
Lotte designated hitter Go Seung-min is the Giants’ key player. He went 2-for-6 with a home run and an RBI in Sunday’s extra-inning loss to Hanwha. Go has three home runs and four RBIs over his last four games, though he is hitting just .167 (6-for-36) over his last 10 contests.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a 4-2 Doosan victory, and the ELO system gives the Bears a 53.0 percent probability to win.
The game is the first of a three-game series between the clubs. The teams will meet again Wednesday and Thursday at Sajik Stadium before Doosan travels to face the Kia Tigers and Lotte visits the LG Twins.
