SEOUL (Interstat) — The Doosan Bears will host the Kiwoom Heroes on Sunday afternoon at Jamsil Stadium, with first pitch set for 2 p.m. local time under cloudy skies and a temperature of 79 degrees.
Doosan (29-28-1) enters the game after a 9-1 victory over Kiwoom on Saturday, the Bears’ second win in as many days against the Heroes. Kiwoom (21-38-1) has lost four of its past five games and sits in last place in the Korea Baseball Organization standings.
Right-hander Choi Min-seok is scheduled to start for Doosan. In his most recent outing Saturday against Kiwoom, Choi allowed one earned run on six hits over seven innings, striking out seven in the Bears’ 9-1 win. Over his past three starts, Choi has a 2.57 ERA with 17 strikeouts in 16 innings.
For Kiwoom, right-hander Yun Seok-won is expected to take the mound. Yun tossed two scoreless innings of relief Saturday, giving up one hit. He has not allowed an earned run over his past three appearances, covering 3⅓ innings, though he has pitched exclusively in relief.
The two teams have met seven times this season, with Doosan winning five. The Bears have taken the past three meetings, outscoring the Heroes 27-7 in that span. Saturday’s win was the most lopsided of the series.
Kiwoom is coming off a 1-9 loss Saturday in which its offense managed just four hits. The Heroes have scored three or fewer runs in four of their past five games.
Doosan, meanwhile, has won four of its past five contests and is batting .281 as a team during that stretch. Third baseman An Jae-seok drove in three runs Saturday and is hitting .320 over his past 10 games.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, Doosan is projected to win 4-1. The company’s ELO system gives the Bears a 66.1 percent probability of victory.
Sunday’s game is the final of a three-game series. Doosan will travel to face the Lotte Giants on Tuesday, while Kiwoom returns home to host the NC Dinos.
