Hanwha at Doosan

SEOUL, South Korea (Interstat) — The Hanwha Eagles and Doosan Bears, separated by a single game in the standings, meet Thursday evening at Jamsil Stadium for their second series finale in three days.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. under cloudy skies, with temperatures around 78 degrees.

Hanwha (27-26-2) holds a 3-2-1 edge in the season series after Wednesday’s 3-3, 11-inning tie. The Eagles have won four of their past five meetings and are coming off a series win this week on the road against the Bears.

Right-hander Wang Yan-cheng is a pitcher to watch for Hanwha. He started the previous game Wednesday, allowing one earned run on seven hits over five innings with four strikeouts. In his last five outings, Wang has a 2.57 ERA over 25.1 innings while striking out 24 batters. He earned the win in a May 22 start against Doosan, throwing seven innings of two-run ball.

Doosan (26-28-2) counters with right-handed reliever Choi Jun-ho. He threw two scoreless innings Wednesday, allowing one hit. Choi has struggled with consistency this season, posting a 6.63 ERA over his past six appearances, though he has held opponents scoreless in three of those outings.

Both teams are jockeying for position in the mid-table of the KBO standings. Hanwha has won eight of its past 10 games and owns a plus-25 run differential. Doosan has dropped five of its last six and has been outscored by 14 runs during that stretch.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 5-3 Hanwha victory, giving the Eagles a 53 percent win probability. The Eagles’ lineup has been productive, scoring at least five runs in eight of their last 10 contests.

Following Thursday’s game, Hanwha travels to Busan for a three-game series against the Lotte Giants beginning Friday. Doosan will host the Kiwoom Heroes for a three-game set at Jamsil Stadium.
