Lotte at Kia
GWANGJU, South Korea (Interstat) — The Kia Tigers host the Lotte Giants on Wednesday afternoon at Gwangju-Kia Champions Field, with first pitch set under partly cloudy skies and a game-time temperature of 74 degrees.
The teams meet for the second consecutive day after Kia edged Lotte 5-4 on Tuesday. The Tigers (29-25-1) look to extend their winning streak against the struggling Giants (21-31-1). Projections favor the home side, with Interstat’s simulator forecasting a 5-3 Kia victory and the ELO system giving the Tigers a 61.9 percent probability to win.
Right-hander James Naile takes the mound for Kia. Naile has been dominant in his most recent outings, including Tuesday’s win over Lotte, when he tossed six shutout innings, scattering three hits with four strikeouts. Over his past three starts, Naile owns a 0.93 ERA and has allowed just one earned run in 19 innings.
Lotte counters with Na Gyun-an, who also started Tuesday’s game. Na allowed three earned runs on five hits across 6? innings, striking out five but taking the loss. The right-hander has been inconsistent, posting an 0-1 record over his last five starts with an ERA north of 5.30. In two outings against the Tigers this season, Na has surrendered six earned runs in 12? innings.
Kia has controlled the season series, winning five of the past seven meetings. The Tigers’ offense has been bolstered by timely hitting and strong bullpen work. Lotte, meanwhile, has dropped four of its last five games and sits near the bottom of the KBO standings.
The game marks the opener of a stretch that will see Lotte play six of its next nine games at home. Kia begins a four-game homestand before hitting the road next week.
