Preview: LG Twins at KT Wiz

SUWON, South Korea (Interstat) — A clash of the Korean Baseball Organization’s elite takes place Tuesday evening at Suwon Baseball Stadium as the LG Twins visit the KT Wiz.

The game features two teams separated by mere percentage points atop the standings. LG enters with a 33-20 record, while KT sits a half-game back at 32-20. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. local time under cloudy skies with a temperature of 77 degrees.

The pitching matchup highlights a pair of aces in peak form. LG right-hander Anders Tolhurst has been dominant of late, allowing just one earned run in each of his last two starts spanning 12.1 innings. He earned wins against the Kia Tigers on May 31 and the Lotte Giants on May 26, striking out 11 across those outings. Tolhurst boasts a 1.93 ERA over five starts.

KT counters with Caleb Boushley, who has been equally impressive. The right-hander tossed six scoreless innings with 10 strikeouts in a win at Kiwoon on May 31. He followed a seven-inning, three-hit shutout against Doosan on May 26. Boushley has allowed a combined three earned runs over his last two starts covering 13 innings.

The two teams are intimately familiar with each other. Their last five meetings were all decided by one run. The Twins took the most recent contest 6-5 on April 30, snapping a three-game losing streak in the head-to-head series. KT won 6-5 in 10 innings on April 29 and 6-5 the previous night.

LG is coming off a 5-3 win Sunday against the Kia Tigers when Austin Dean homered and drove in two runs. The Twins have won four of their last five games. KT enters having won five straight, including a 5-1 victory Sunday at Kiwoon.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 7-6 final score in favor of LG, while its ELO system gives the Twins a 53.30 percent probability to win.

Tuesday’s game kicks off a three-game series between the division rivals. The teams meet again Wednesday and Thursday before LG travels to face NC Dinos and KT visits Shinsegae Landers.
