NC at Doosan
SEOUL, South Korea (Interstat) — The Doosan Bears host the NC Dinos on Tuesday evening at Jamsil Stadium, with first pitch set for 7 p.m. under cloudy skies and 78 degrees.
Doosan (20-22-1) enters the game a half-game ahead of NC (18-23-1) in the KBO standings. The Bears have won two of the last three meetings between the clubs, including a 9-6 victory on March 29 in Changwon. NC took the series opener, 6-0, the previous day.
Right-hander Riley Thompson takes the mound for the Dinos. Thompson is coming off a strong outing May 17 against Kiwoom, striking out eight over seven innings while allowing one earned run on four hits in a 2-3 loss. In his previous start May 12 at Lotte, he earned the win after tossing five innings of one-run ball with five strikeouts.
Doosan counters with right-hander Choi Seung-yong. Choi also delivered a quality start May 17, holding Lotte to one earned run over six innings with four strikeouts in an 8-4 victory. He has been sharp in three of his last four outings, though he struggled May 6 at LG, allowing four earned runs in 2 2/3 innings.
Both teams are seeking consistency after splitting their recent series. NC dropped three of four at home against Kiwoom, including a 3-2 loss Sunday in which Thompson worked seven strong innings in a no-decision. Shortstop Kim Ju-won went 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs in that defeat.
Doosan took two of three from Lotte at home, winning 8-4 on Sunday behind Choi’s start. Left fielder Kim Min-suk homered and drove in three runs, and first baseman Kang Seung-ho added three hits and an RBI.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a 4-3 Doosan victory, with the Bears holding a 52.2 percent win probability. NC is a pregame favorite at +1.5 on the run line, and the over/under is 9.0.
The teams continue their three-game series Wednesday and Thursday at Jamsil.
