Hanwha at KT
SUWON, South Korea (Interstat) — The Hanwha Eagles look to complete a three-game sweep of the first-place KT Wiz in a KBO League matinee Sunday at Suwon Baseball Stadium.
First pitch is set for the afternoon under clear skies with temperatures expected at 86 degrees.
Hanwha (20-21-1) enters with momentum after a 10-5 victory Saturday, powered by designated hitter Kang Baek-ho. Kang went 3-for-4 with two home runs and seven RBIs, continuing a blistering stretch. Over his last 10 games, Kang has five home runs and 14 RBIs, including a 3-for-3, one-homer performance on May 12.
KT (24-16-1) leads the league standings but has dropped its last two games, both to Hanwha. The Wiz fell 5-3 on Friday before Saturday’s loss. Right-hander Son Dong-hyun is a key reliever for the home side, posting a 0.00 ERA over his last four appearances, spanning 5.1 innings with six strikeouts.
The teams have split the season series so far, though KT won three of four meetings in late March and early April before Hanwha’s current streak.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a 5-3 Hanwha victory, while the ELO system gives KT a 53 percent probability of winning.
After Sunday, Hanwha opens a three-game home series against the Lotte Giants on Tuesday. KT travels to face the Samsung Lions.
