Doosan Bears outlast Lotte Giants in 11 innings

SEOUL (Interstat) — Na Seung-yeup went 4 for 4 with a home run and four RBIs, but his tying two-run shot in the ninth inning only forced extra frames as the Doosan Bears outlasted the Lotte Giants 10-9 in 11 innings Saturday afternoon at Jamsil Stadium.

The Bears overcame a 7-6 deficit in the seventh, regained the lead in the eighth, then watched Na’s heroics knot the score before plating the winning run in the bottom of the 11th. The victory improved Doosan to 19-22-1, while Lotte fell to 16-23-1 before a crowd of 23,750.

Doosan jumped out early, scoring four runs in the first inning. Park Chan-ho singled and scored on a Daz Cameron single, and Kim Min-seok cleared the bases with a double that plated two. Park Ji-hoon followed with an RBI double, and the Bears led 4-0 after one.

Lotte’s last stand came in the ninth. Hwang Seong-bin led off with an infield single and stole second. After two strikeouts, Na Seung-yeup crushed a homer to right field, scoring Hwang and tying the game at 9-9.

Neither team scored in the 10th. Lotte went down in order in the top of the 11th, and Doosan pushed across the winning run in the bottom half to seal the walk-off victory.

Han Dong-hui contributed a homer and three RBIs, going 1 for 4. For Doosan, Yang Eui-ji drove in two runs with his homer and finished 1 for 3. Son Ah-seop went 2 for 4 with two RBIs.
