Shinsegae at Doosan
SEOUL, South Korea (Interstat) — The Shinsegae Landers visit the Doosan Bears on Sunday in a KBO afternoon-evening split doubleheader at Jamsil Stadium, with first pitch set under clear skies and 72-degree temperatures.
Shinsegae (19-15-1) holds the better overall record but arrives having lost Saturday’s series opener 9-4 to the Bears. The Landers have split the first two games of this four-game set, winning 4-1 on Friday before Saturday’s defeat. Doosan (16-19) snapped a two-game skid with the win, taking the season series lead at 3-2 in head-to-head matchups this year.
The Landers counter with designated hitter Kim Jae-hwan, who homered and drove in three runs in Saturday’s loss, going 1-for-4. Over his past two games against Doosan, Kim is 3-for-9 with a home run and three RBIs. In his last three contests overall, he is 4-for-13 (.308) with two RBIs.
Doosan sends right-hander Gwak Been to the mound. Gwak earned the win Saturday against Shinsegae, allowing two earned runs on six hits over five innings with one strikeout. The Bears righty has been sharp recently, posting a 2.91 ERA over his past four starts, including a six-inning, two-run outing against Kiwoom on May 3.
The teams split a previous two-game series in April at Jamsil, with the Bears winning 11-3 on April 14 and the Landers prevailing 6-0 on April 15. Shinsegae took the most recent meeting at its home park, a 2-1 win April 16.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a 4-3 Landers victory, and the ELO system gives Shinsegae a 52% win probability. Despite that, oddsmakers have installed Doosan as a -1.5 favorite. The over/under is set at 7.5 runs.
Both games are listed as afternoon and evening sessions, meaning a traditional twin bill. Sunday’s first game is scheduled for early afternoon, with the nightcap to follow.
The Landers begin a three-game series at KT Wiz on Tuesday. Doosan travels to Kia on Tuesday for a three-game set.
