(Interstat) — AP Sports Preview: KT Wiz vs. Lotte Giants

KT Wiz hosts the Lotte Giants on Wednesday evening at Suwon Baseball Stadium in Suwon-si, South Korea. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. under clear skies with a temperature of 65 degrees.

The Wiz (22-10-1) enter the game with the best record in the league and have won six of their last seven contests. Lotte (12-18-1) sits near the bottom of the standings but took KT to the limit in Tuesday’s 5-4 loss at this venue.

Right-hander So Hyeong-jun is expected to start for KT. So has been dominant in his last five outings, including a six-inning, two-earned-run performance against Lotte on Tuesday in which he struck out six. Over his past five starts, So has allowed just seven earned runs in 30 innings while recording 29 strikeouts and winning each decision.

Lotte will likely turn to reliever Jeong Hyeon-su, who threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings in Tuesday’s loss. Jeong has appeared in three of Lotte’s last four games, posting a 3.86 ERA over that span.

The teams have split the season series 1-1. KT won 5-4 on Tuesday; Lotte won 6-1 on April 8 in Suwon.

Interstat projections favor KT with a 65.3 percent win probability and forecast a 5-4 final score.

The Wiz continue their homestand Thursday against Lotte before traveling to face Kiwoom on Friday. Lotte concludes its road trip Thursday in Suwon, then returns home to host Kia on Friday.
