Doosan at LG
SEOUL, South Korea (Interstat) — The LG Twins host the Doosan Bears on Tuesday afternoon at Jamsil Stadium in a KBO matchup of division rivals heading in opposite directions.
LG (19-11-2) sits atop the standings, while Doosan (14-16-1) has struggled to find consistency. The forecast calls for 66 degrees and cloudy skies at first pitch.
Doosan enters on a high note after pounding Kiwoom 14-3 on Sunday, an offensive outburst led by second baseman Oh Myeong-jin. Oh went 2-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs in that game and is hitting .417 (5-for-12) with six RBIs over his last four starts. His bat will be key for a Doosan lineup that has scored 14 or more runs in two of its last three games.
LG counters with reliever Lee Jong-jun, who tossed two scoreless innings in the Twins’ 10-3 loss to NC on Sunday, allowing one hit and striking out two. He has not allowed an earned run in his last two outings, spanning three innings.
The teams split a three-game series last weekend at Doosan’s home ballpark. LG won the first two games 7-5 and 4-1 before Doosan rallied for a 4-3 victory in 10 innings on April 26. Tuesday marks the first meeting at Jamsil this season, where LG traditionally holds a strong home-field advantage.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a 5-4 win for LG, and its ELO system gives the Twins a 67.8 percent probability of victory. Despite those projections, Doosan opened as a -1.5 favorite on the run line, with an over/under of 8.0 runs.
The series continues with games on Wednesday and Thursday, with the teams not scheduled to meet again until September.
With LG aiming to extend its lead atop the division and Doosan hoping to climb back above .500, the afternoon tilt at Jamsil carries early-season implications. The Bears have won four of their last six, while the Twins have dropped two of three.
