Shinsegae at NC
Rainy Showdown Set for Changwon as Landers Visit Dinos
CHANGWON-SI, South Korea (Interstat) — A wet and pivotal early-season series continues Saturday when the Shinsegae Landers face the NC Dinos at Masan Baseball Stadium.
First pitch is scheduled for the evening, though persistent rain and a forecast temperature of 61 degrees Fahrenheit (16 degrees Celsius) threaten to complicate proceedings. The game is a key matchup for two clubs trending in opposite directions.
The visiting Landers (9-7) arrive having won two straight, including a 2-1 victory over the Doosan Bears on Thursday. The home side Dinos (7-9) look to halt a two-game skid after falling 4-3 to the KT Wiz that same day.
The pitching matchup features two arms capable of dominance but searching for consistency. Shinsegae will hand the ball to right-hander Mitch White, who is coming off his best outing of the year. On Thursday, White stifled the Bears, allowing just two hits and no earned runs over six innings while striking out five. His season, however, has been a rollercoaster, including a 10-run shelling by the LG Twins on April 10.
He will be opposed by NC’s ace left-hander, Koo Chang-mo. Koo has shown flashes of brilliance, tossing six shutout innings with just one hit allowed against the Kia Tigers on April 3. But in his last start, he took the loss against KT, yielding three earned runs over 5 1/3 innings.
Offensively, the Landers have been potent at times, highlighted by a 17-run outburst against Lotte earlier this month. The Dinos have struggled to find a sustained rhythm, scoring three or fewer runs in six of their last ten contests.
According to Interstat, the game is projected to be a tight, low-scoring affair. Their game simulator predicts a 3-2 victory for the Landers, while their ELO rating system gives a slight 51% probability of a win to the Dinos.
The result could swing momentum in the standings. A Landers win would push them three games above .500 and create further separation from the Dinos, while an NC victory would draw the teams even in the loss column.
The series concludes Sunday at the same venue.
