Samsung Lions Power Past LG Twins Behind Jeon’s Key Blast

DAEGU, South Korea (Interstat) — Jeon Byeong-woo hit a three-run homer in the fourth inning, powering the Samsung Lions to a 7-2 victory over the LG Twins on Saturday afternoon at Daegu Samsung Lions Park.

The decisive blow came after Lewin Diaz’s two-run single had tied the game earlier in the fourth. Jeon followed by driving a pitch to right field, scoring Ryu Ji-hyuk and Diaz to give the Lions a 4-2 lead they would not relinquish before a crowd of 24,000.

Samsung added insurance runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Lions reliever O’Loughlin earned top star honors with 3 1/3 scoreless innings after starter Lee Seung-min allowed two runs over 1 1/3 frames. The Lions’ bullpen combined for 7 2/3 shutout innings.

Austin Dean drove in the lone late run for the Twins with a seventh-inning double. The Lions improved to 12-4-1, while the Twins fell to 11-6.
