Kiwoom at Kia

GWANGJU, South Korea (Interstat) — The struggling Kiwoom Heroes look to snap a three-game skid when they visit the .500 Kia Tigers for the second game of a midweek series Wednesday evening at Gwangju-Kia Champions Field.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. local time under cloudy skies with a game-time temperature near 61 degrees Fahrenheit (16 Celsius).

The Tigers (7-7) took the series opener Tuesday night, 6-2, powered by a grand slam from third baseman Kim Do-yeong. Kim is a key player to watch for Kia, entering Wednesday on a hot streak. In his last five games, he has three home runs and eight RBIs, including the decisive slam against the Heroes.

Kiwoom (4-10), which has lost eight of its last ten, will hope for a strong performance from reliever Won Jong-hyan, identified as a player to watch. Won provided a scoreless inning of relief in Tuesday’s loss. The Heroes’ offense has mustered just five total runs during its current three-game losing streak.

According to Interstat’s projections, Kia is a strong favorite. Their game simulator predicts a 4-3 Tigers victory, and their ELO rating system gives Kia a 66.7% probability to win.

The Tigers have found momentum, winning four of their last five contests. After this three-game set concludes Thursday, Kia will embark on a six-game road trip starting Friday in Seoul against the Doosan Bears.

The Heroes, seeking to climb out of the league cellar, continue a tough road stretch. Following Thursday’s series finale, Kiwoom travels to Suwon for a three-game weekend series against the KT Wiz.
