Doosan at Shinsegae
Preview: Doosan Bears at Shinsegae Landers
INCHEON, South Korea (Interstat) — The Shinsegae Landers will look to halt a four-game slide and even their series with the Doosan Bears when the teams meet again Wednesday evening at Munhak Baseball Stadium.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. local time under cloudy skies with a game-time temperature near 71 degrees Fahrenheit (22 Celsius).
The Bears (5-8-1) dominated the series opener Tuesday, routing the Landers 11-3 behind a strong start from Choi Min-seok and home runs from Park Chan-ho and Yang Eui-ji. The Landers (7-7-1) have lost four straight since a three-game winning streak last week.
A key matchup will feature Doosan’s recent pitching success against Shinsegae’s struggling bullpen. Doosan’s Choi Min-seok, a player to watch, has been excellent in his last three outings, posting a 0.60 ERA over 17 2/3 innings with 14 strikeouts. He earned the win Tuesday against Shinsegae, allowing one earned run over six innings.
For the Landers, reliever Han Doo-sol is a player to watch as the team seeks stability. While he pitched two scoreless innings Tuesday, Shinsegae’s pitching staff has been taxed, allowing 10 or more runs in three of its last four losses.
According to Interstat, the Landers are projected favorites with a 58.3% probability to win. The organization’s game simulator predicts a 3-2 Shinsegae victory.
The Bears have alternated wins and losses over their last six games. After Wednesday, the teams conclude their three-game set Thursday before both embark on weekend series against new opponents.
Shinsegae will travel to face the NC Dinos starting Friday, while Doosan returns home to host the Kia Tigers.
