Samsung at Hanwha

DAEJEON, South Korea (Interstat) — The surging Samsung Lions, winners of seven of their last eight, visit the struggling Hanwha Eagles on Tuesday night to open a three-game series at Daejeon Hanbat Baseball Stadium.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. local time under cloudy skies with a game-time temperature near 72 degrees Fahrenheit (22 Celsius).

The Lions (8-4-1) enter with the better record and momentum, having just swept a three-game set from the NC Dinos, including a 9-3 victory on Sunday. First baseman Lewin Díaz was instrumental in that win, going a perfect 4-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Díaz is batting .429 (12-for-28) with two homers and seven RBIs over his last seven games.

The Eagles (6-7) look to halt a three-game skid after being swept at home by the Kia Tigers, including a 9-3 loss on Sunday. A bright spot in that defeat was reliever Lee Min-woo, who tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings. He will be a key arm for a Hanwha staff seeking to cool Samsung’s bats.

According to Interstat’s projections, Samsung is a slight favorite with a 50.6% probability to win. Their game simulator predicts a 7-3 victory for the Lions.

This series begins a crucial 10-game stretch for both clubs. Following this set, Samsung returns home to face the LG Twins, while Hanwha embarks on a road trip to face the Lotte Giants.
