Kia at Hanwha
Rainy Daejeon Showdown: Eagles Look to Rebound Against Tigers
DAEJEON, South Korea (Interstat) — The Hanwha Eagles will look to even the series and protect their winning record when they host the Kia Tigers in wet conditions at Daejeon Hanbat Baseball Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Forecasted rain and a temperature of 52 degrees Fahrenheit (11 degrees Celsius) could factor into the evening contest, the second of a three-game set between the Korea Baseball Organization clubs.
The Tigers (4-7) stole the series opener Friday night, 6-5, handing the Eagles (6-5) a narrow defeat. Kia will aim to build on that momentum and climb out of the league’s lower tier.
A key matchup will feature Kia’s recent standout, right-hander James Naile. In Friday’s win, Naile delivered a quality start, allowing three earned runs over seven innings with four strikeouts. Over his last three outings, he has posted a 2.25 ERA across 18 innings, giving up just five earned runs.
Hanwha’s offense will counter with slugger Kang Baek-ho, who homered and drove in two runs in the loss. The designated hitter has been a consistent power threat, logging three home runs and 14 RBIs over his last 10 games.
Interstat’s projections favor the Eagles to respond at home, simulating a 5-2 victory and giving Hanwha a 57.1% probability of winning based on its ELO rating system.
Following Saturday’s game, the teams will conclude the series Sunday before both embarking on extended road trips next week.
