LG at NC
Rain-Soaked Series Opener Features Divergent Fortunes
CHANGWON-SI, South Korea (Interstat) — The LG Twins and NC Dinos, teams trending in opposite directions, will open a three-game series under rainy skies Tuesday evening at Masan Baseball Stadium.
The first pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. local time amid a forecast of 54-degree temperatures and rain.
The Dinos (6-2) enter with the league’s best record, having won six of their last seven before a 3-0 shutout loss at Kia on Sunday. NC’s pitching staff has been a strength, anchored by starter Toda Natsuki. The right-hander took a hard-luck loss in that contest, allowing two earned runs over six innings. In his prior start, a 9-2 win over Lotte on March 31, he went five innings for the victory.
They host an LG squad (4-4) seeking consistency after splitting a four-game set in Seoul against the Kiwoom Heroes. The Twins’ player to watch is starter Anders Tolhurst, who delivered a dominant performance last time out. The right-hander earned the win Sunday, surrendering just one earned run on two hits with seven strikeouts over six innings in a 6-5 victory. That outing rebounded from a rough start against Kia on March 31, where he was tagged for seven earned runs in three innings.
Offensively, LG’s Moon Bo-gyeong and Oh Ji-hwan powered Sunday’s win, combining for five hits and five RBIs.
Despite NC’s superior record, statistical projections are conflicted. Interstat’s game simulator predicts a 7-5 Dinos victory, while its ELO rating system gives LG a 56.7% probability to win. Betting markets list LG as a slight favorite with a +1.5 run spread. The over/under is set at 10.5 runs.
The teams will meet again Wednesday and Thursday in Changwon before departing for their next series.
