Hanwha at Doosan
SEOUL, South Korea (Interstat) — The Hanwha Eagles and Doosan Bears, two KBO clubs seeking momentum after sluggish starts, open a three-game series at Jamsil Stadium on Friday night.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. local time under clear skies with temperatures around 57 degrees Fahrenheit (14 Celsius).
Hanwha (2-3) arrives after dropping three straight high-scoring games to the KT Wiz, including a 13-8 loss Thursday. Doosan (1-3) is looking to rebound after a 5-2 loss at Samsung, where its offense was held to just three hits.
A key matchup features hot-hitting Hanwha outfielder Moon Hyun-bin against Doosan’s effective starter Choi Min-seok. Moon is batting .500 (10-for-20) with two home runs and eight RBIs over his last five games. He went 3 for 5 with a homer and three RBIs in Thursday’s defeat.
Choi provides a stark contrast for the Bears, coming off a dominant six-inning start against Samsung where he allowed only two hits and no earned runs while striking out four.
Despite Doosan’s home-field advantage and being installed as a 1.5-run favorite by oddsmakers, statistical models lean toward Hanwha. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 5-3 Eagles victory, and its ELO rating gives Hanwha a 54.2% probability to win. The over/under for total runs is set at 8.0.
The series continues through the weekend, with games scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at Jamsil before both clubs embark on road trips next week.
