KT at Hanwha

DAEJEON, South Korea (Interstat) — The surging KT Wiz, off to the best start in the Korea Baseball Organization, will aim for a series sweep when they visit the Hanwha Eagles on Thursday evening at Daejeon Hanbat Baseball Stadium.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. local time under cloudy skies with a temperature near 54 degrees Fahrenheit (12 degrees Celsius).

The Wiz (4-0) have powered their way to four straight wins to open the 2026 season, including decisive victories over these Eagles in the first two games of this series. KT won 9-4 on Tuesday and outslugged Hanwha 14-11 on Wednesday.

A key catalyst has been center fielder Choi Won-jun, who drove in five runs in Wednesday’s victory. Over his last four games, Choi is 7 for 16 (.438) with five RBIs.

The Eagles (2-2), who opened the season by taking two of three from the Kiwoom Heroes, have seen their offense stymied and exploited by KT pitching in consecutive losses. Shortstop Shim Woo-jun provided a bright spot Wednesday, going 2 for 4 with a home run and five RBIs in the losing effort.

Projections for the finale present a split view. The Interstat game simulator predicts a 6-4 KT victory. However, the same outlet’s ELO rating system gives Hanwha a narrow 51.2% probability to win and avoid the sweep.

Following the game, KT returns home to Suwon to begin a three-game series Friday against the Samsung Lions. Hanwha hits the road for a three-game set in Seoul against the Doosan Bears starting Friday.
