Hanwha at Kia

GWANGJU, South Korea (Interstat) — The Hanwha Eagles, one of the Korea Baseball Organization’s hottest teams, will look to complete a three-game road sweep of the Kia Tigers on Thursday evening at Gwangju-Kia Champions Field.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. local time.

The Eagles (78-54-4) have dominated the first two games of the series, outscoring the Tigers (61-67-4) by a combined 17-3. Hanwha won 11-1 on Tuesday and followed with a 6-2 victory on Wednesday behind a strong start from veteran left-hander Ryu Hyun-jin and home runs from Luis Liberato and Roh Si-hwan.

Hanwha has won 10 of its last 12 games and appears to be peaking as the postseason approaches. The team’s powerful offense was on full display in a 21-3 rout of these same Tigers just over two weeks ago on Sept. 2.

The Tigers, meanwhile, are struggling to find consistency. After Wednesday’s loss, Kia has dropped six of its last 10 contests. The bullpen provided a bright spot in the latest defeat, as relievers Kim Ki-hoon, Jung Hai-young and Cho Sang-woo combined for 4 1/3 scoreless innings.

The head-to-head season series has been decidedly one-sided. Hanwha holds a 10-5 advantage in the 15 meetings between the clubs so far in 2025, including a current four-game winning streak.

According to Interstat’s projections, the Eagles are favored to continue their success. The outlet’s game simulator predicts a 7-4 Hanwha victory, and its ELO rating system gives the Eagles a 51.70 percent probability to win.

Following the series finale, Hanwha will travel to Suwon to face the KT Wiz on Saturday. The Tigers will remain at home for a weekend series against the NC Dinos beginning Saturday.
