Capital City Go-Go vs. Greensboro Swarm
GREENSBORO, N.C. (Interstat) — The Greensboro Swarm used a balanced offensive attack and a dominant defensive presence in the paint to secure a 118-108 victory over the Capital City Go-Go in an NBA G League matchup Friday night at Greensboro Coliseum Fieldhouse.
The game was a showcase for the Swarm’s interior defense, anchored by center Jonas Aidoo, who recorded six blocked shots and grabbed 11 rebounds. His presence altered countless attempts by the Go-Go and helped Greensboro establish control despite a stellar individual performance from Capital City’s Chris Livingston.
Livingston, a power forward from Akron, Ohio, led all scorers with 27 points, adding eight rebounds and three assists in 42 minutes. He was supported by center Skal Labissiere of Port-au-Prince, Haiti, who scored 26 points and secured eight rebounds. Point guard Kadary Richmond of Brooklyn, New York, orchestrated the offense with a double-double of 12 points and 10 assists.
For the Swarm, power forward Tidjane Salaun posted a double-double with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Small forward Tosan Evbuomwan led all players with 12 rebounds to go with his 19 points, while shooting guard Liam McNeeley also notched a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds. The Swarm’s depth was evident as five players scored in double figures, including 17 points from Antonio Reeves and 10 from Marcus Garrett.
The most important stretch of the game came late in the third quarter and early in the fourth, when the Swarm built the decisive cushion. After Capital City had kept the contest close for much of the night, Greensboro closed the third period with a burst. A driving layup by Liam McNeeley with 2:01 left in the quarter was followed by back-to-back three-pointers from McNeeley, the second coming with just over a minute remaining, to push the Swarm lead to double digits.
The Swarm then opened the fourth quarter with a three-pointer from Josiah Allick and a layup by Marcus Garrett, extending the run and forcing a Capital City timeout. The Go-Go, despite Livingston’s efforts to rally them with a trio of three-pointers in the final period, could never cut the deficit to within one possession again. Greensboro’s defense, which recorded 12 total blocks, consistently stifled Capital City’s attempts at a comeback in the closing minutes.
With the win, the Swarm improved their season record to 36 wins and 16 losses, solidifying their position as one of the top teams in the G League. The Go-Go fell to an even 26-26 on the season. The two teams had split a pair of meetings in Greensboro in February, making this the Swarm’s second consecutive home victory in the season series.
Greensboro’s next game is on the road against the Osceola Magic on Sunday. Capital City returns home to continue its playoff push in the Eastern Conference.
