Iowa Wolves vs. Stockton Kings

STOCKTON, Calif. (Interstat) — The Stockton Kings used a blistering first-quarter offensive display and a dominant performance in the turnover battle to outlast the Iowa Wolves 116-104 in an NBA G League matchup Wednesday night at Stockton Arena.

The Kings seized control early, erupting for 37 points in the opening period while forcing the Wolves into a series of miscues. Stockton’s defensive pressure was a constant theme, as they finished the game with 12 steals and forced 16 Iowa turnovers, converting those into numerous transition opportunities. The Wolves, by contrast, managed only two steals and two assists for the entire contest.

Despite the early deficit and ball-handling struggles, Iowa clawed back, primarily behind the efforts of Enrique Freeman. The Wolves’ power forward delivered a standout performance with 30 points and 13 rebounds, keeping his team within striking distance. A strong second quarter from Iowa cut the Stockton lead to 60-59 at halftime.

The Kings re-established their momentum in the third quarter, holding Iowa to just 19 points, and maintained a steady offensive pace in the fourth to secure the victory. Stockton’s offensive balance proved decisive, with six players scoring in double figures, led by DaQuan Jeffries with 27 points and Patrick Baldwin Jr. with 25 points and 10 rebounds. Jon Elmore orchestrated the attack with a game-high 14 assists.

For Iowa, Jalen Crutcher contributed 22 points and seven assists, and center Rocco Zikarsky of Australia added 14 points, 10 rebounds and four blocked shots. The Wolves shot 50% from the field but were undone by their inability to take care of the ball or create easy opportunities for teammates, as evidenced by their minus-10 assist differential.

The most important part of the game was Stockton’s initial surge and sustained defensive harassment, which established a tempo Iowa could never fully overcome. Every time the Wolves mounted a challenge, a Kings steal or forced turnover would stem the rally. The first-quarter run, fueled by this defensive energy, created a cushion that lasted throughout the night.

With the win, Stockton improved its season record to 33-17. Iowa fell to 29-22. The Kings host the Rip City Remix on Friday, while Iowa continues its road trip.
