Maine Celtics vs. Greensboro Swarm

GREENSBORO, N.C. (Interstat) — The Greensboro Swarm used a dominant first-quarter offensive explosion to set the tone and never looked back, defeating the Maine Celtics 112-90 in a G League matchup Tuesday night at Greensboro Coliseum Fieldhouse.

The Swarm established control immediately, erupting for 39 points in the opening period while holding the Celtics to 31. That early burst provided a cushion Greensboro maintained throughout the contest. The home team led 59-52 at halftime and extended its advantage with a 27-point third quarter, entering the final period with a commanding 86-65 lead. Maine’s offense struggled after the first, scoring just 21, 13 and 25 points over the subsequent three quarters, unable to mount a sustained challenge.

The most important part of the game was the Swarm’s initial blitz, fueled by efficient ball movement and transition play. Point guard Marcus Garrett was instrumental in the early onslaught, facilitating the offense and scoring in the paint. His playmaking helped Greensboro build a lead that proved insurmountable for a Maine team that could not replicate its recent high-scoring form.

The victory improved Greensboro’s season record to 35 wins and 16 losses, solidifying its position as one of the league’s top teams. The loss dropped Maine to 26-24 on the season.

Greensboro’s attack was balanced, with key contributions across the roster. Alongside Garrett’s orchestration, Liam McNeeley provided perimeter shooting and rebounding, while P.J. Hall stretched the floor with outside shooting from the center position. Tidjane Salaun and Tosan Evbuomwan also made significant impacts with their scoring and activity.

For Maine, John Tonje and Jalen Bridges shouldered much of the offensive load, but the team’s rhythm was frequently disrupted by turnovers and the Swarm’s defensive pressure. Center Hason Ward provided energy with blocks and rebounds, but the Celtics could not consistently string together stops to close the gap.

The game’s outcome aligned with statistical projections that heavily favored the Swarm on their home floor. The teams have now split their four meetings this season, with the home team winning each contest.

Both teams continue their G League schedules this weekend.
