Noblesville vs. Motor City
WALKER, Mich. (Interstat) — In a high-octane NBA G League shootout that saw both teams eclipse 125 points, the Motor City Cruise outlasted the visiting Noblesville Boom 135-128 on Wednesday night at DeltaPlex Arena.
The game was ultimately decided by a dominant second-quarter performance from the Cruise, who erupted for 46 points to turn a tight contest into a substantial lead they would never fully relinquish.
The first quarter set the tone for an offensive night, with Noblesville taking a narrow 32-33 edge. The Boom’s early attack was balanced, with DaJuan Gordon and Cameron Hildreth creating opportunities. However, the game shifted dramatically in the second period. Motor City’s offense became nearly unstoppable, shooting efficiently from the floor and capitalizing on Noblesville turnovers. A key sequence saw the Cruise force consecutive Boom turnovers, converting them into fast-break dunks by Bobi Klintman to ignite the home crowd and extend their lead.
By halftime, Motor City had built a 79-63 advantage, a 16-point cushion forged in that explosive quarter. The Boom’s defense, which had held reasonably firm in the opening period, had no answer for the Cruise’s ball movement and interior scoring during that stretch.
Noblesville did not fade, showcasing the resilience that has defined many of their recent outings. They chipped away at the deficit throughout the second half, outscoring Motor City in both the third and fourth quarters. A late push in the final period, fueled by Keion Brooks and Cameron Hildreth, brought the Boom within single digits on multiple occasions. Each time, however, the Cruise had a response, often from Drew Peterson or Isaac Jones, to stabilize their lead.
The Boom’s effort was highlighted by a 37-point fourth quarter, but the hole dug in the second proved too deep. Motor City’s ability to maintain their composure and execute in the final minutes sealed the victory.
With the win, Motor City improved its season record to 23 wins and 20 losses. Noblesville, despite the loss and a valiant comeback attempt, fell to 19-25. The two teams are scheduled for a quick rematch at the same venue on Thursday night.
The contest featured several notable individual performances that fueled the offensive fireworks. Motor City’s Tolu Smith provided a strong interior presence, impacting the game with scoring, rebounding, and shot-blocking. For Noblesville, Cameron Hildreth, the point guard from Worthing, England, was a consistent catalyst offensively. Motor City’s Isaac Jones offered efficient scoring and rebounding, while teammate Drew Peterson facilitated the offense and hit critical shots. Noblesville’s Keion Brooks and DaJuan Gordon provided significant scoring punch throughout the night in the losing effort.
